DVD Uses
You
probably know DVD as a media for movies...Digital Video Disc. Hollywood
was the first adopter of DVD, but we want people to realize just how versatile
this format is, and what it can do for your company in sales and marketing.
DVD
looks like a CD, it is random access just like a CD, but CD's only hold
650 MB of information on one side of the disc. DVD's big advantage is that
it
can contain much more information. Because it can have two layers per side
and is recordable on both sides, the capacity of the disc is over 18 Gigabytes.
To
put this into perspective imagine one DVD having room for 20,000 novels
or 100,000 photographs. Pretty impressive. How about 7 hours of better than
CD quality sound...or nearly four hours of video! Now that is very impressive.
DVD
is the state of the art using MPEG-2 digital compression for video
and Dolby AC-3 for better than CD quality audio including Surround Sound.
DVD
can display multiple angles of video shots, it can hold 8 audio tracks so
it can be heard in a multiple of languages and can have up to 32 subtitle
tracks.
It can be authored to do still shows and automated slide shows with music
a truely versatile format and one that can work for your business right now.
DVD is poised for the future of TV. It can be viewed in both 4:3 and 16:9.
4:3 is the aspect of your TV or computer monitor. 16:9 is the wide screen
TV
you've seen in projection and plasma screens...the future of digital television.
